Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, every other weekend required, float required within system

Highlights:

• Progressive Care (Surgical Step-Down) unit specializing in post-surgical overflow, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, and general medicine
• Patient ratios of 3-4:1 with all attempts to maintain 3:1 staffing
• Epic EMR system utilized
• One-year contract with 24 hours of orientation provided
• First-time travelers accepted (candidates with only 1 year of experience will be individually reviewed by management)
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of progressive care, step-down, or telemetry nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass facility telemetry competency test
• Experience monitoring telemetry patients required
• Epic charting experience required
• Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing

Key Clinical Skills:

• Telemetry monitoring (both unit-based and remote)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining peripheral lines, PICC line management, and central line care
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• IV insulin drip titration and insulin protocols
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration
• PCA pump management and surgical drain care
• Wound care including wound VAC therapy
• Phlebotomy and isolation precautions/PPE

Patient Population:

• Adult and geriatric patients
• Post-operative surgical patients including bariatric and colorectal procedures
• General medical patients requiring progressive care level monitoring
