Physical Therapist

The Physical Therapist provides general physical therapy evaluations and treatments to patients across a wide range of ages and diagnoses to improve functional abilities. This role includes assessing patients, formulating and implementing treatment plans, supervising support staff, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and educating patients and families. The Physical Therapist ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains clinical and administrative responsibilities to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Conduct physical therapy evaluations and assessments to identify therapy diagnoses and formulate treatment plans with goals.
• Implement, supervise, and modify therapy plans based on patient response to optimize outcomes.
• Review clinical records, attend care conferences, and communicate with referring providers and healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with team members to arrange medical equipment and establish discharge care plans.
• Document patient encounters, diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses in compliance with policies.
• Provide physical therapy services in inpatient and outpatient settings as assigned.
• Direct and oversee the work of Physical Therapist Assistants, students, or interns.
• Develop and conduct patient education and therapy programs tailored to patient and family needs.
• Advise patients and families on self-care methods to promote independence and rehabilitation.
• Assist in clinic operations, administrative tasks, and specialty or research areas as needed.
• Maintain clinical equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of therapy spaces.
• Educate staff and patients on physical therapy-related issues and functional limitations.
• Participate in committees, management duties, and provide therapy consultations and presentations.
• Adhere to regulatory and practice standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and organizational policies.
• Utilize hospital computer systems for patient information management and communication.
• Assist with acquisition, fitting, and stocking of durable medical equipment and devices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Entry level qualifying master's or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, or equivalent experience with continuing education.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Alaska.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Clinical competency certification within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.
• High risk competency certification within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.
• Ability to perform physical therapy evaluations, treatment planning, and implementation.
• Strong communication skills for effective patient, family, and interdisciplinary team interactions.
• Proficiency with information technology and multiple software applications.

• Broad-based clinical experience in multiple physical therapy settings.
• Knowledge of musculoskeletal physiology, neuro system assessment, and general medical conditions.
• Experience with billing procedures including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers.
• Skills in fitting and training patients with adaptive devices such as splints, braces, orthoses, and durable medical equipment.
• Experience in public speaking and staff education.

• Must adhere to confidentiality and quality assurance standards.
• Compliance with regulatory and professional practice standards established by the APTA.
• Work involves both inpatient and outpatient populations in various clinical settings.
• Physical ability to safely deliver treatment techniques and assist patient mobility.

• Work schedule and shift assignments may vary based on clinical needs and setting.
• Participation in timely flow of information and interdisciplinary communication is expected.
