Qualifications

- J.D. from an accredited law school - Active membership in the Maryland Bar with DC or Virginia admission considered a plus - 5-10 years of commercial litigation experience including significant courtroom and deposition experience - Strong analytical, legal writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills - Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment - Experience representing contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, or sureties is highly preferred - Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal counsel and develop strong client relationships

Responsibilities

Represent clients in construction, surety, and commercial disputes from initial investigation through trial and appeal Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related filings Conduct and defend depositions and manage all aspects of written discovery Handle court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations Provide practical and strategic advice to clients regarding litigation risks and case strategy Work independently while collaborating closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex matters Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice
