Legal Intake Manager

About the role
We are a growing criminal defense firm in Fort Worth seeking an experienced legal intake professional to own our client acquisition process from first contact to hire. This is a role with performance-based compensation for someone who understands the legal intake process deeply and wants to bring structure, accountability, and results to it.
You'll be the first voice prospective clients hear — often at the most stressful moment of their lives. Your ability to guide them through that moment, build trust quickly, and help them take the right next step is central to everything we do.
What you'll do
- Manage all inbound intake calls from prospective criminal defense clients
- Assess case viability, communicate the firm's value, and guide prospects toward retaining the firm
- Follow up on leads who did not sign after the initial consultation
- Maintain intake records and pipeline data in the firm's CRM
- Identify opportunities to improve intake scripts, workflows, and conversion rates
- Coordinate with attorneys and staff to ensure smooth case handoffs after signing
What we're looking for
- Prior experience in legal intake or a client-facing role at a law firm
- Strong understanding of the criminal defense client experience
- Excellent communication skills: You can be both empathetic and direct in the same conversation
- Organized and detail-oriented: You track follow-ups and nothing falls through the cracks
- Goal-oriented : You understand that intake is a results-driven function, not just administrative
Compensation
Base salary of $60,000, plus performance-based compensation tied to cases signed. This role is structured to reward intake professionals who take ownership of outcomes, not just activity.
Nice to have
- Experience specifically in criminal defense intake (DWI, assault, drug charges, etc.)
- Familiarity with legal CRMs such as MyCase, Lawmatics, or similar platforms
- 2+ years of consultative sales experience (professional services preferred)
- Business development or marketing experience beyond pure intake
