Important Requirements

• Acute care hospital facility experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of personnel management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
• Knowledge of autoclaving, bio-waste, life safety codes, construction phasing, and environmental services operations.
• Ability to systematically apply engineering principles and detect and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems.

Position Summary

The Director of Facilities manages and leads functions within Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds. The role provides direct and indirect supervision across multiple divisions, oversees facility utility and maintenance operations, establishes staff expectations and training plans, addresses customer and employee concerns, and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect supervision of approximately 45 FTEs across Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Environmental Services.
• Carry out Director-level responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Establish job-specific customer service expectations, behaviors, and associated training plans.
• Address customer and employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Direct maintenance activities for utility systems providing heat, steam, electric power, gas, and oxygen required for facility operations and patient care.
• Inspect machines and equipment to ensure operational standards are met.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is completed on systems and buildings according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations or best standards.
• Ensure outside contractors comply with regulatory agency requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Liaise with other departments to assess needs and develop action plans to address them.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and applicable local building and fire codes.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of personnel management experience.
• Acute care hospital facility experience.
