bout the Facility - tlanta VAMC
tlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC), a Joint Commission, designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia-just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical, surgical, geriatric specialty services, as well as state-of-the-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center, also a teaching hospital, provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology, education, and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

Registered Nurse ICU - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Providing professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients;
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to react promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life saving procedures;
• Providing counseling, guidance, and health instruction to patients; and
• Identifying disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
• Provide professional nursing duties according to established professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures in an ICU setting, assessing patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural needs;
• Demonstrate skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served; provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients;

Registered Nurse ICU - QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have completed a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) from a program accredited by the ACEN/CCNE.
• Shall have completed an accredited course in Intensive Care Nursing as well as certification in Moderate Sedation or equivalent. In lieu of ICU certification, prospective individuals shall possess at least 5 years of clinical experience in an ICU or other CC environment. CCRN certifications preferred.
• Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Must have a minimum of three years' experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory for all specialties.
