Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable OB/GYN physician to provide urgent locum coverage at Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. This role involves day and potential clinic coverage, including hospital-based deliveries and outpatient care, ensuring seamless service for our diverse patient population. Required Skills:

• MD or DO degree with valid medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure promptly
• Proven experience in obstetrics and gynecology, including deliveries and emergency procedures (C-section, vaginal deliveries, suction, D&C, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, abnormal bleeding)
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (preferably EPIC)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to handle cross-covering both hospital and outpatient settings effectively

Nice to Have Skills:

• Previous locum or temporary coverage experience
• Knowledge of high-risk obstetrics, including collaboration with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) consultants
• Bilingual capabilities to serve diverse patient populations

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or equivalent in OB/GYN
• Minimum 2 years of clinical practice post-residency
• Experience with emergency obstetric procedures and hospital care

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to cover hospital call shifts with a ratio of 1:4
• Ability to perform procedures such as cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and outpatient gynecologic procedures
• Clean background and malpractice history; temporary privileges may be available for qualified providers
• Availability to start from May 1, 2026, with coverage dates through July 2026 and potential for ongoing assignments
• Local candidates preferred; open to travel reimbursement as applicable
