Budget Analyst (Fiscal Analyst 2) - Hybrid Remote Work Opportunity We offer full medical, vision, and dental benefits with paid sick leave, vacation leave, personal leave, and 11 paid holidays a year. This is a full-time, classified service position that is not represented by a union. Responsibilities You will provide budget analysis and fund management for the agency, which includes but is not limited to developing, controlling, and monitoring the biennial budget; interpreting state laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance; and working directly with internal partners to provide updated budget allocations and projections. Qualifications Five years of progressively responsible experience that included the preparation, analysis, and administration of a budget or fiscal system. - OR - Five years of professional-level experience in accounting, fiscal auditing, management or program analysis. Experience must have included modeling, forecasting, and analyzing fiscal information. - OR - Successful completion of the Department of Administrative Services Budget and Management Public Administrative Trainee Program. A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public or Non-Profit Management, Finance, Accounting or a related degree (such as Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration or other analytical or technical degree) may substitute for three years of the required experience. - OR - A graduate-level degree in any of the above areas may substitute for four of the five years. The most successful candidate will also have the following skills, experience, and background: Experience analyzing complex financial and budget data, identifying trends, and providing recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making. Knowledge of governmental budgeting principles, public finance practices, and applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to fiscal management and accountability. Experience developing, monitoring, and forecasting budgets, including analyzing expenditures, revenues, personnel costs, and funding impacts across multiple funding sources. Skill in interpreting and communicating financial and budget information clearly and effectively to managers, program staff, and leadership with varying levels of fiscal expertise. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, maintain attention to detail, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
