Assistant/Associate Professor

Assistant/Associate Professor Position Summary: The individual is expected to develop a comprehensive beef research and Extension program in the successful candidate’s area(s) of expertise, with an emphasis on creating an internationally recognized Extension and research program. The faculty member will supervise graduate students and interns. Duties / Responsibilities Extension: Develop methods to improve the efficiency of beef production in Georgia, focusing on forage and grain utilization, fetal programming, calf health and weaning management, growing systems emphasizing production efficiency, and life‑cycle cow nutrition (65% of time). Research: Lead an independent research program utilizing the beef farms at Calhoun, J. Phil Campbell, Athens, and Eatonton, and collaborate with faculty from Tifton and Athens campuses. Support the bull and heifer evaluation programs at Calhoun and Tifton as needed (30% of time). Service: Perform additional service duties (5% of time). Qualifications Terminal degree in the discipline. To be eligible for tenure on appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
