Location: Belle Mead, NJ 08502
Shift: Day Shift, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Hours: 36 hours/week
Holiday Requirement: None

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality nursing care in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The RN will work under the supervision of nursing leadership and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of inpatient behavioral health nursing experience , strong assessment and crisis-management skills, and experience working with adolescent, adult, and older adult patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and continuous evaluation of patient needs.
• Complete comprehensive nursing admission assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to facility policies.
• Conduct nursing psycho-educational groups as assigned.
• Assess patients' learning needs and provide age- and culturally appropriate education.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and patient documentation.
• Review patient charts and new orders at the beginning of each shift.
• Transcribe, review, and co-sign medication orders according to policy.
• Recognize and document adverse medication reactions and unusual incidents.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, rights, and chart security.
• Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement activities.
• Participate in orientation of new staff, transferred personnel, and students as assigned.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient-care environment.
• Follow policies related to suicide prevention, seclusion/restraint, fall prevention, withdrawal assessment, and patient safety.

Behavioral Health Responsibilities

• Maintain a therapeutic milieu and establish appropriate therapeutic limits.
• Provide effective 1:1 patient interactions.
• Understand and implement seclusion, restraint, and quiet-area procedures.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health emergencies.
• Apply crisis-management and safe patient-handling techniques.
• Work effectively with adolescent and adult behavioral health populations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Inpatient Behavioral Health experience — Required.
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills.
• Ability to care for adolescent, adult, and older adult patients.
• Knowledge of lifespan growth and development.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to provide patient-centered care.

Education

Required:

• ASN/ADN from an accredited nursing program.

Preferred:

• BSN.

Licensure & Certifications

Required:

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License or valid multistate compact RN license.
• AHA BLS Certification.
