Registered Nurse, Emergency Department – Travel
San Luis Obispo, California
Start date: 08/17/2026 | Duration: 13 weeks | Weekly pay: 1,706–1,795 per week | Guaranteed hours: 36 | Shift: 3x12 nights | Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
This travel assignment places you in a high-volume ED providing triage, treatment and discharge care for patients from newborns to geriatrics. The role supports a CNA-represented team and requires experience in fast-paced acute care environments.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in the Emergency Department, including triage, assessment, treatment and discharge planning for patients from newborns to geriatrics.
- Review and complete patient orders in a timely manner; offer medication side effects teaching to patients and document discharge instructions.
- Administer medications, perform IV therapy (including blood products), and care for indwelling catheters and drains; operate and monitor ED equipment safely.
- Recognize signs of cardiac or respiratory distress and implement appropriate interventions for stable and emergent patients.
- Demonstrate competency in routine ED skills and participate in Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis and Trauma Activations as needed; interpret ECG rhythms and manage life-threatening cases.
- Document legibly and accurately in the electronic health record (EPIC); adhere to the chain of command and hospital policies.

Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California) required.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S./ADN) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum one year of acute care ED experience required.
- Certifications/Competencies: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire or transfer; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency; EPIC experience required.
- Ability to work in an ED setting and function within a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
