Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Patient Access Representative / Patient Account Representative to support hospital accounts receivable and insurance collections. The ideal candidate will have experience with inpatient and outpatient facility claims, insurance follow-up, and hospital billing processes while ensuring timely reimbursement and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review hospital accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
• Follow up with insurance carriers regarding outstanding facility claims.
• Handle inpatient and outpatient institutional (UB-04) claims.
• Investigate and appeal denied or underpaid claims to maximize reimbursement.
• Verify insurance eligibility through payer websites and customer service.
• Resolve billing discrepancies by coordinating with internal departments.
• Document all collection activities accurately in the billing system.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
• Work with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance payers to resolve payment issues.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of hospital accounts receivable, medical collections, or healthcare collections experience.
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient collections.
• Experience processing and following up on UB-04 institutional/facility claims.
• Knowledge of hospital billing processes, CPT, ICD, and DRG reimbursement.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance guidelines.
• Experience verifying insurance eligibility through payer portals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and hospital billing systems.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements
