Expense Accounting, Associate

Overview Blackstone is a global alternative asset manager focused on providing long‑term value to investors and companies across private equity, real estate, credit, and more. The Expense Accounting team supports corporate finance functions across all business units and is responsible for accounting, forecasting, and analysis of the firm’s support groups. Position Responsibilities Manage month‑end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, workpapers, allocations, and balance sheet/P&L analysis. Execute and monitor the monthly expense allocation process across all business units. Support budgeting and forecasting for operating expenses across business units. Oversee U.S. fixed asset accounting and asset management. Perform broker‑dealer accounting, including revenue coordination with deal teams, expense tracking, workpapers, and regulatory reporting. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during the year‑end audit process. Lead or support automation, process improvement, control enhancements, and system‑related projects. Utilize reporting systems and tools to fulfill ad‑hoc analysis and reporting requests with strong attention to detail. Manage balance sheet activities, including cash reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations and settlements, and ownership/review of key accounts. Conduct income statement analysis, including trend analysis and review of overhead allocations across businesses. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance. 3+ years of experience in public or corporate accounting, preferably within financial services. Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Motivated, results‑oriented self‑starter with high attention to detail who can manage tasks independently. Interest in process improvement and efficiency initiatives. Preferred: CPA, broker‑dealer experience, Series 99, and familiarity with Oracle/Essbase. Salary and Benefits Expected annual base salary range: $90,000 – $125,000 (packages determined by experience, qualifications, and location). Licensing Some roles may require securities licenses (e.g., Series 99) if client‑facing or involved in marketing, structuring, or supervising licensed employees.
