Accounting assistant

Responsibilities

• Multi-State Accounting Support: Assist in processing, reconciling, and maintaining financial records across multiple state jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
• Accounts Payable Modernization: Collaborate with the AP team to evaluate current workflows, identify bottlenecks, and help implement modern tools or automated processes to increase efficiency.
• Daily AP Processing: Review, verify, and input high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring accurate general ledger (GL) coding and timely payment processing.
• Vendor Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, research and resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain clean vendor master files.
• Reconciliations & Reporting: Assist with monthly bank reconciliations, credit card matching, and preparing preliminary schedules for month-end close.
• Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with internal team members and the AP department to streamline expense reporting and ensure seamless data flow.
• Audit & Compliance Prep: Maintain organized digital and physical financial records, assisting with pulling documentation for year-end audits or state tax filings.
