In our pursuit of becoming the most respected and premier motorsports engineering organization in the world, we are looking for highly motivated applicants for our available positions.TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Machinist for our 2nd Shift.The 2nd Shift Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining TRD's 5-axis CNC machines and associated robotic automation to produce close-tolerance race and commercial engine components to the daily production schedule and established Quality and OEE targets.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with Mfg. Engineering to optimize machining processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and qualityAssist maintenance personnel with the diagnosis and correction of machine tool geometry concerns using part inspection dataFollow the production schedule and proactively verify machines are configured correctly with appropriate tooling, available tool life, and fixtures as requiredIn accordance with SOP's and drawing set up instructions, load castings & raw materials on designated pallets for 5 axis CNC machining in an automated environmentEnsure all machines are running in accordance with the daily published schedule, and with objectives to meet established Quality and OEE targetsPerform required daily maintenance activities on assigned CNC machine and record activity on machine tablet. This includes detailed cleaning, coolant concentration checks, and other general cleaning tasksCoordinate with the QC department to validate part quality from QC reports. For any non-conforming issues, validate part setup, tool builds, fixture requirements and machine geometry and coordinate data with QC and Manufacture Engineering to achieve the required resolution and expected qualityRecover machines and automation robots from any alarms that may occur and resume productionDocument machine and automation robot issues resulting in lost production in TRD tracking system with full details with the intention to diagnose root cause and corrective action of issueRetrieve and/or build cutting tools in accordance with defined tool list requirements, verifying 100% tool build accuracyA successful candidate will have:High School diploma AND AA Degree or completed trade school study relevant toward CNC machine manufacturingKnowledge of 5 axis CNC machine controls (Heidenhain, Mazatrol experience is preferred), with the ability to select, retrieve and run programs5+ years' experience working in a highly dynamic, metric driven, close tolerance CNC manufacturing environment, with responsibilities in machine operation, programming, and cutting tool selection and maintenanceStrong knowledge of CNC cutting tools (eg. reamers, end mills, boring bars, taps, drills, etc.)Ability to read, follow and provide constructive feedback on internal Standard Operating ProceduresFamiliarity of G & M Code programming techniques (Heidenhain, Mazatrol experience preferred)Ability to read and understand detailed blueprints with advanced GD&T experienceCompetent with various forms of measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, go/no-go gauges, etc.)Ability to work in a self-supervised environmentAbility to work 2nd Shift hoursComputer Skills:Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Project, PowerPoint)Physical requirements are listed below but not limited to:Must be constantly on feetAbility to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.Constant need to perform the following physical activities to perform service, maintenance or repair to equipment: Bend, stoop, climb, push or pullA successful candidate may have:Knowledge of 5-axis CNC machine controls (Heidenhain, Mazatrol experience is preferred), with the ability to select, retrieve, and run programsStrong background in working with 5-axis milling machinesHands-on experience working with Heidenhain ITNC 530/640 and Mazatrol & machine controlsDirect experience with root cause analysis associated with CNC machine tools, cutting tools, and human performancePassion for precision and efficiencyExperience working in and maintaining a shop floor with a 5S cultureStrong verbal and written communication skillsWorking experience utilizing published SOP's including SOP revisionSpecial Skills:Forklift operating experienceTravel Requirements:5% travel (for training as required)What we'll bring During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
