As an intern, you will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups and their vision, business objectives, processes, systems, and services. You will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments. The Human Resources department is seeking students of junior status or below who are interested in working year round. Work full-time during our summer internship period (mid-May to about the first week in August), then work a part-time schedule while in school. Work schedules and hours will be flexibly planned to accommodate class schedules; however, availability to work 15-25 hours per week in person at UP Center in Omaha, Nebraska and virtually when needed, is required. This Internship opportunity is on our Labor Relations team. You will be assigned projects equivalent to those of any Human Resources analyst and will be given the opportunity to manage a project from start to finish. The estimated wage for this position is between $21-$25 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Accountabilities Support Labor Contract Management: Assist in preparing and reviewing labor contracts and related documents Track contract compliance and assist in resolving contract disputes Coordinate with the labor relations team to ensure accurate contract administration Collaboration with Operating and Non-Operations Leaders: Work closely with leaders to understand and address labor-related concerns Assist in organizing, documentation and discussions related to labor issues Support the implementation of labor relations strategies and initiatives Administrative Tasks: Maintain and update labor relations records and documentation Prepare correspondence related to labor matters Perform data entry and assist with document management and organization Research and Reporting: Conduct research on labor relations trends Draft reports and summaries on labor relations activities and issues Analyze data and prepare presentations for internal stakeholders Support cross-functional projects and/or strategic initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications - Required College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree Proficient verbal and written communication skills Basic organization, prioritizationand time/project management skills Qualifications - Preferred College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree with a focus in Technology, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Legal Studies/Pre-Law, or related field Physical and Mental Job Requirements This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions Work Conditions Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship 18 years of age or older Standard office work environment What we offer: A strengths-based, engagement-focused, and performance-oriented culture Ongoing learning and development On-site cafeteria (with employee discount), fitness center (free to employees), federal credit union, all in Union Pacific Center headquarters Wellness and Employee Assistance Programs Competitive compensation Engaging activities with other interns and educational visits to Union Pacific facilities Union Pacificstrives to attract all available talent.
