Job Description

Install and service commercial doors, frames, and glass systems, including automatic sliding and swing doors as well as manual doors, using construction, electrical, and carpentry skills to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality installations.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial doors, frames, and glass systems in a variety of commercial settings.

• Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on automatic sliding doors, automatic swing doors, and manual doors.

• Use construction, electrical, and carpentry skills to complete installations and service work safely and efficiently.

• Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation and alignment of door systems.

• Operate power tools and hand tools correctly and safely for cutting, drilling, fastening, and adjusting door components.

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in door systems and determine appropriate repair solutions.

• Work in the field at customer locations, providing professional and courteous service.

• Document work performed, including parts used and time spent, using provided phone and tablet.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and work vehicle.

• Follow safety procedures and industry standards to ensure safe operation of all installed and serviced doors.

• Participate in on-call rotation every 10 weeks, including responding to weekend service needs during assigned on-call periods.

• Communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding job status, issues, and recommendations.

• Support team efforts and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.

Essential Skills

• Experience installing and servicing commercial doors, frames, and glass systems.

• Hands-on experience with automatic sliding doors, automatic swing doors, and manual doors.

• Strong construction skills, including working with structural components and building materials.

• Electrical knowledge and experience sufficient to work safely with powered door systems.

• Carpentry skills for measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing door and frame installations.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Proficiency using power tools such as drills, saws, and impact drivers.

• Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, levels, and measuring devices.

• At least 2+ years of tenure at a previous job, demonstrating reliability and commitment.

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in door systems.

• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality workmanship.

• Ability to work independently in the field and manage daily tasks effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with electrical work, HVAC, or other mechanical trades is preferred.

• Comfort working in a variety of commercial environments and adapting to different job sites.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions on-site.

• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.

• Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed using mobile devices.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, field-based role with typical hours from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position includes participation in an on-call rotation approximately every 10 weeks for one week, which can involve weekend work during the assigned on-call period. Work is primarily performed at customer sites in commercial environments, involving installation and service of door systems using power tools, hand tools, and mobile technology. A work van is provided during business hours, and a phone and tablet are supplied for communication and documentation. Shirts and coats are provided at no charge, supporting a practical and professional appearance while working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
