Position: Bindery Operator

Job Overview

We are seeking a Bindery Operator to join our production team. The Bindery Operator plays an important role in transforming printed materials into finished products that meet our customers' specifications and quality expectations.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and willing to learn . This position requires someone who can work independently while also communicating and collaborating effectively with the rest of the production team.

The successful candidate will be responsible not only for operating bindery equipment, but also for maintaining an organized department, monitoring quality, helping meet production deadlines, and supporting shipping and mailing operations as needed.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• Day shift
• 7.5-hour workday
• No regular weekend schedule

Key Responsibilities: Bindery & Production

• Set up, operate, and monitor a variety of bindery and finishing equipment, including:
• • Paper cutters
  • Folding machines
  • Collators
  • Drills
  • Laminators
  • Stitching equipment
  • Other finishing equipment as required
• Follow job tickets, production specifications, samples, and customer requirements to ensure accurate finished products.
• Perform quality-control checks throughout the production process.
• Identify and correct production or finishing issues before completed work is released.
• Monitor equipment performance and production workflow to maintain efficiency and minimize waste.
• Complete production work accurately while meeting established deadlines.
• Handle printed materials safely and carefully to prevent damage.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, adjustments, and inspections of bindery equipment.
• Identify equipment problems and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Communicate equipment issues to management when additional service or repairs are required.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.

Shipping & Mailing

• Assist with preparing completed jobs for customer pickup, delivery, shipping, or mailing.
• Learn and utilize Shipping-Easy software for USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipments.
• Learn and assist with preparing mailings for USPS delivery.
• Ensure packages and mailings are properly prepared, labeled, and documented.
• Assist with receiving and organizing incoming materials and supplies.

Department Organization

• Take ownership of maintaining an organized and efficient bindery department.
• Restock shelves and production supplies as materials are received.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the owner/management.
• Keep production areas clean and organized.
• Work cooperatively with other employees to prioritize jobs and meet customer deadlines.

Qualifications

Required

Preferred / Willing to Train

5 years experience in the printing, bindery, mailing, shipping, or manufacturing industry is preferred but not required for the right candidate .

Experience or familiarity with any of the following is a plus:

• Heidelberg Windmill
• Commercial printing equipment
• Bindery and finishing equipment
• Shipping and receiving
• USPS mailing procedures
• UPS and FedEx shipping
• Shipping-Easy software
