Food Safety Coordinator Job Category: Warehouse Supervisor: Paul Santamauro Requisition Number: FOODS002343 Location: Spanaway, WA 98387, USA Job Details Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm Compensation: $25 per hour Job Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conducts training for team members regarding Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Warehousing Practices to ensure compliance with FDA rules and regulations. Maintains and monitors the facility's food safety program, applying Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as applicable to food storage, Good Warehousing Practices, and HACCP principles to ensure compliance with FDA and customer requirements. Conducts routine sanitation and warehousing (GMP/GWP) inspections, documents corrective actions, and reports findings to the General Manager. Oversees allergen control, product segregation, and cross-contamination prevention practices within the facility. Administers the facility's pest control program and maintains related service records and documentation. Supports recall readiness and product traceability procedures, including mock recalls and lot tracking. Monitors temperature and environmental controls for food-grade storage areas and maintains related documentation. Prepares for and supports third-party and customer food safety audits (e.g., AIB, FDA) and tracks corrective actions to closure. Serves as the facility's SQF practitioner under the SQF Storage & Distribution Code. Applies SQF (Storage & Distribution), HACCP, GMP, Good Warehousing Practices (GWP), AIB, FDA, and other industry standards and methods to support excellent service to company clients and external customers. Collects data and compiles reports that reflect food safety trends and identify potential problems. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to instill a culture of food safety throughout the organization. Assists with projects and department milestones and goals in adherence to approved processes. Performs required administrative duties based on business needs. Maintains a master cleaning schedule for the facility and works to ensure the schedule is being followed. Supports the General Manager in implementing food safety policies, programs, and initiatives at the facility. Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Performs all other duties as assigned or needed by Holman. Skills & Abilities: Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Experience: Three (3) years previous work experience in a warehouse environment, including at least one (1) year in a progressively complex food safety role. Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills; MS Office (Excel, Access, Outlook and Word). Ability to master internal computer systems, including SAP. Certificates & Licenses: AIB, HACCP, SQF, or other food safety certifications preferred, or the ability to obtain. Food Safety Knowledge – Ability to apply GMP, Good Warehousing Practices, HACCP, and sanitation principles to maintain food safety and product integrity. Regulatory Compliance – Ability to interpret and apply FDA, USDA, and AIB food safety standards and requirements. Sanitation Awareness – Ability to identify sanitation risks and enforce cleaning and hygiene standards throughout the facility. Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments, with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and material-handling equipment. Must be able to walk warehouse floors for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses or goggles, steel-toe shoes, high-visibility shirts, and hair/beard bonnets as required.
