Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 12 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Location: Macon Georgia 31201 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift - 36 Shift Information: 7A-7P Clinical Interviewing - Yes - Manager Approval to Offer On Call, Call Back Requirements: None Weekend Rotation: 6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts) Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays Floating Requirements: all med surg / telemetry units About Facility: 637 licensed beds Level 1 Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information: Beds: 35 Census: 35 Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years Med/Tele RN experience Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Orthopedic and Trauma: fractures of all types (femur, tib-fib, humerus, spinal, rib, etc.). Head trauma-hemorrhage; osteomyelitis Patients with acute or chronic disease Post-op surgeries Co-morbidities common to med-surg population: diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, electrolytes imbalances Patient Ratios: RN : 1:4-6 LPN : 1:4-6 CNA : 2-3 per shift Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: BLS required BCR (Basic Cardiac Rythm) are required – meaning traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of Compliance ACLS - preferred National certification- Medical-surgical certification or Nephrology nursing - preferred Skills required: Trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate HR but NOT BP Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital IV insertion and care, central line management Wound care and post op monitoring Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams Discharge planning and patient education, particularly on renal and fluid management Support within the Department: CNA: Duties: Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a Charge nurse – may have patients Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs IV/VAT Team: Not an IV team - do have a PICC team Resource Nurse: Yes, we have discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units RT 24/7: yes Hospitalist 24/7: yes Intensivist 24/7: yes Telemetry monitoring/tech: Central Telemetry Unit Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Pyxis Monitors: Phillips Unit specific equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips Cardiac Telemetry monitoring Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp) Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system External fixators, chest tubes, JP drains and Hemovac drains Glucommander PCA pain management Suction machine Use of admission/ discharge protocol for rapid turnover Floating: If yes, where: All adult med surg / telemetry units in house Orientation (facility and unit): 1 day orientation with work on educational modules 2 days departmental Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule) On call: If so, what is that schedule: No call Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1 RTO Requests: Manager approval Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other notes: Scrub Color: RN- Navy; LPN- Ceil Blue Parking: Free: Have free parking around campus or can pay to park in parking decks Unit Culture: busy but work as team PCUnurse1 Talent Burst Job ID 26-26457.
