Electrical Engineer

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary) This position will fill a new role within the TNT Santiago office, providing support the TNT electrical department in Santee, California, on small to large materials handling projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Functional ResponsibilitiesProvide electrical/controls presence in the Santiago, Chile office, and coordinate with the overall electrical/controls team located in Santee, California.Perform electrical/controls lead duties for project proposals based out of South America; including, reviewing RFQ specifications, technical bid evaluations for equipment packages, preparing cost estimates, and technical input into proposal documentationPerforming engineering design and related duties; including, developing protection and control schemes, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding / lightning design, lighting, schematic and wiring designManage electrical subcontractors and vendorsEnsure compliance with both client and TNT technical specificationsReview TNT purchase orders to vendors (suppliers) and approve quantities and technical specificationsEngineering coordination with structural and mechanical engineering departments Identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control ProcessMaintaining and planning cost control for all scopes of workEnsuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and ProceduresOther duties as assigned Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSome supervision of design and drafting personnel on electrical design projects. Client FocusProvide professional and courteous interaction with all stakeholdersEnsure work is completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner Health & SafetyWork in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation and TNTIncorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the positionMonitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety DepartmentKeep work area clean and free of clutterUse proper equipment for the job Travel RequirementsThis position has the requirement for occasional travel to project sites and offices Travel period may range from one day to several weeks and may include overseas assignments QUALIFICATIONS Education and ExperienceEngineering Degree from a recognized University or Professional Institution, along with a Professional Engineering designation or ability to register as a Professional Engineer Minimum of 7 years' industrial, mining, or process plant experience Previous on-site construction/commissioning experience required Certificate(s), License(s), Registration(s)CET or Professional Engineer with (P. Eng.) designation preferredPMP designation or accreditation preferred Skills, Knowledge, & AbilitiesExperience writing technical specifications/datasheets, and performing bid evaluationsExperience creating electrical cost estimates is requiredSmartPlant software experience considered a major assetFluent in both Spanish and English is requiredEPLAN design software experience considered a major assetExperience with Microsoft Office software requiredExperience of AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting techniques TNT is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
