In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by guiding students through their academic journey and helping them reach their full potential. Coaches engage with students in both face-to-face and virtual settings, providing holistic, person-centered advising and support throughout the course selection and academic planning process. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for building authentic connections and delivering clear, effective guidance. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary to address challenges and make informed decisions. The Student Success Coach provides learning opportunities as well as creates conditions that lead to the achievement of students’ academic and career goals. The Student Success Coach will also monitor student persistence and progression towards graduation utilizing appropriate advising technology. Guides and recommends Valencia resources, such as academic, non-academic, and community resources, to support academic progression and career success. Serves as the point of contact to assigned cohorts and supports students as they navigate college policies and procedures and other institutional resources. Uses technology to leverage a cohort-based coaching model and support students seeking guidance and support; maintains, tracks, and reports on student outreach, engagement, and established outcomes. Supports students in developing an educational plan by evaluating college placement test results, degree audits, and transfer credits to guide students with course selections. Provides strategies to help students with identifying educational and career goals as well as selecting a degree pathway. Provides holistic coaching through a variety of service delivery modes (e.g., group coaching, one-on-one coaching, online coaching, etc.) in response to student needs, enrollment trends, and changing campus environments. Manages and analyzes caseload data to monitor students’ academic progress. Disseminates information accurately and concisely as required, keeping detailed records, and providing appropriate referrals based on students’ needs. Collaborates with the coaching leadership team to develop and implement proactive strategies aimed at improving the student experience and supporting the college’s student persistence and graduation objectives. Develops and facilitates educational opportunities (e.g., events, presentations, information sessions, etc.) designed to enhance student learning outcomes and increase student engagement.
