Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference in the lives of students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a respected educational setting near Binghamton, NY. This full-time, onsite contract role supports students with diverse visual needs for the upcoming school year, providing specialized instruction and advocacy to maximize their learning experience.

You’ll work within a collaborative team focused on creating accessible learning environments and individualized supports. The precise caseload will be determined closer to the assignment’s start, but your expertise will be invaluable across settings and grade levels.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in New York State
• Previous classroom experience with visually impaired students is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to develop IEP goals and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction and consultative support for students with visual impairments across the district
• Design and modify curriculum resources to make materials accessible
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized education plans
• Train school staff and families in best practices and use of adaptive equipment
• Advocate for accessible learning and equitable opportunities for each student
