Collections Specialist

Job Title: Collections Specialist – B2B

Location: NW Houston, TX

Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced B2B Collections Specialist to join our team in NW Houston. This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial customer accounts, following up on outstanding balances, resolving account discrepancies, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial collections and be comfortable working in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of B2B customer accounts and monitor outstanding balances
• Perform daily collection activities through phone calls and email correspondence
• Review aging reports and prioritize collection efforts on past-due accounts
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, short pays, deductions, and customer disputes
• Communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances and payment status
• Reconcile customer accounts and identify unapplied or misapplied payments
• Negotiate payment arrangements and follow up on promised payments
• Partner with internal Billing, Sales, and Accounting teams to resolve account issues
• Maintain accurate documentation of collection activity and customer communications
• Escalate significantly delinquent or high-risk accounts as needed
• Assist with month-end AR reporting and reconciliation activities

Qualifications

• 2+ years of B2B/commercial collections experience
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable and collections processes
• Experience managing a high-volume portfolio of business customers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with large commercial customer accounts
• Experience with customer portals and electronic payment systems
• Experience resolving billing disputes and deductions
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus
