Location: Geismar, Louisiana - On-site

Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Bengal is seeking an organized, dependable Accountant to help maintain accurate financial records and support timely month-end reporting. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role focuses on general ledger entries, account reconciliations, closing activities, and financial schedules. The ideal candidate can explain discrepancies, document their work, and carry assigned accounting tasks through to completion.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare and record journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and approvals.
• Reconcile assigned bank, general ledger, and balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve differences.
• Support month-end and year-end close by preparing reconciliations, reviewing transactions, and completing assigned closing tasks.
• Maintain schedules for assigned company obligations, loan balances, security deposits, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for review by the Accounting Manager; research unusual balances and expense variances.
• Review account coding and assist in correcting errors so transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounts and periods.
• Coordinate with accounts payable and other departments to obtain missing records and reconcile related balances.
• Maintain accurate accounting-system records, including Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains records as assigned.
• Provide organized documentation for management review, audits, and requests from external accounting professionals.
• Protect confidential financial information, follow company accounting procedures, and recommend practical improvements to recurring processes.
• Provide accounting-team assistance and perform other related duties assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Previous accounting experience involving general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and month-end support.
• Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, including debits, credits, accruals, and financial statements.
• Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel to organize information, perform calculations, and reconcile balances.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and the ability to investigate discrepancies.
• Ability to meet deadlines, maintain clear supporting records, and communicate effectively with coworkers and management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Accounting degree, related coursework, or comparable practical experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains.
• Accounting experience in transportation, crane and rigging, construction, equipment services, or another industrial business.

Work Environment

This is an on-site office position in Geismar, Louisiana, with regular computer use, document review, telephone communication, and collaboration with the accounting team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
