Medical Support Assistant (Advanced)

VA Careers - Medical Support AssistantThe incumbent performs work that impacts the timely administrative aspect of patient care including administrative coordination of patient care and appointments and logistical factors associated with direct patient care, inpatient and outpatient, related to the coordination of care between Hampton VAMC and outside facilities. The AMSA uses a broad working knowledge of all medical center programs and services and of the varying priorities and complexities of outside care for specialty services. The AMSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model within the Office of Community Care. The incumbents assist Veterans by explaining community programs, coordinating their care in the community through various avenues and provides customer service to be the patient's liaison between the VA Medical Center and the community provider. Incumbent is responsible for accurate appointment management and the coordination of all administrative information between the community care vendor and the Veteran. This includes scheduling appointments, data entry, administratively managing consultation requests and the electronic waiting list.Work Schedule: 8am-4:30pm (Monday thru Friday) Telework: Ad hoc.
