About the Role
Clera is building AI agents that help startups hire and connect talented people with their next role. As a Sales Development Representative, you'll introduce Clera's recruiting services to founders and hiring leaders through consistent outbound sales. You'll own the phone, run email and LinkedIn sequences, and book qualified meetings for our founders and sales team—working closely with leadership in a small, growing company.
What You'll Do
- Call founders and hiring leaders daily, lead with why Clera matters to them, and convert cold conversations into booked meetings.
- Run outreach sequences via email and LinkedIn, send concise messages, and respond promptly when prospects show interest.
- Follow up consistently on calls, information requests, and reconnections; handle objections professionally and know when to continue or respectfully move on.
- Qualify prospects by understanding what they're hiring for, timeline, and decision-makers; book meetings where there's genuine fit and confirm next steps.
- Log calls, responses, outcomes, and follow-ups in the CRM; provide clear summaries of company needs and open questions for whoever takes the meeting.
- Use AI and automation tools to handle repetitive preparation and administrative work, freeing up time for actual selling.
- Review calls and results with the team, practice objection handling, test messaging approaches, and share prospect feedback to improve how we sell Clera.
What We're Looking For
- Comfort with cold calling: willing to reach out to people who aren't expecting you, explain your purpose, and ask for a meeting when there's a fit.
- Consistency: able to sustain high-volume outreach throughout the week, organize your day, complete follow-ups, and take ownership of your activity.
- Clear communication: can write concise emails and explain offers in plain language; comfortable speaking with founders and hiring managers without overcomplicating.
- Coachability: willing to review calls that didn't go well, try different approaches, and implement feedback; prioritize improvement over defending your first pitch.
- Interest in building a sales career: curious about how businesses buy, motivated by measurable results, interested in startups and AI, and comfortable evolving processes on a small team.
- Experience in a customer-facing role with high daily conversation volume (SDR, BDR, appointment setting, inside sales, recruiting sales, or similar); familiarity with CRMs and sales dialers is helpful but not required.
Location
Hybrid in Salt Lake City, Utah. You'll be based in Salt Lake City after an initial in-person onboarding in San Francisco; optional visits to HQ are available.
