Field Service Technician - Santa Maria/Santa Barbara/Ventura, CA

Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility Field Service Engineer – Santa Maria, CA (San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles) Install, maintain, and repair equipment, including POS, self-service checkout, servers, handheld terminals, and peripherals. Respond to customer concerns or problems by resolving or escalating as appropriate. Build working relationships with customers and develop informal communication channels. Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose problems, make repairs, and replace components or modules. Maintain parts inventory and record keeping. Accurately report calls, activity, and expenses; capture detailed customer asset information for invoicing. Maintain a schedule that meets Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, flex shifts, and on‑call duties. Participate in shift patterns and may require travel, lifting, bending, and use of manual tools. Take ownership of customer problems until resolution or compliance with agreed SLAs. Basic Qualifications Clean driving license. High School Diploma or equivalent. Related work experience. Computer skills: Windows OS navigation and Microsoft Office. Experience in PC hardware maintenance and support. Works well with minimal supervision; strong problem‑solving and quick learning. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and produce high‑quality work. Excellent interpersonal and customer‑relationship skills. High mechanical/electrical aptitude; experience with desktops, servers, peripherals, routers, switches. Integrity and teamwork support. Flexible schedule: nights, weekends, overtime, flex shifts, on‑call. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree or certifications in a technology field. Previous experience with NCR or similar equipment. Recognised qualification within Electronics or IT. EPOS maintenance or installation experience. Strong desktop hardware experience if EPOS limited.
