About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred License: KY or compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Experience with ICP and lumbar drains Experience with charting in EPIC preferred Ability to float to other units Availability to work weekends and holidays Description: This position requires 2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred at a level one trauma facility. Travel experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must possess current EKG, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Experience with intracranial pressure monitoring and lumbar drains is required. Familiarity with Licox is preferred. Candidates will be required to float within the neurosciences service line and other ICUs outside of the service line. Client policy indicates that local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted. The selected candidate will be expected to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays. Preferred experiences include a familiarity with charting systems and managing neuro critical care patients. The unit serves a patient population that includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with various neurological diagnoses. Interdisciplinary support is available from various healthcare professionals. Special procedures conducted in this unit include external ventricular drains and lumbar drains. Compliance requirements include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. This role requires careful monitoring and management of ventilated patients and those experiencing acute strokes. Candidates should have experience in managing traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and post-neurosurgery care.
