Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Compact license must be in hand at submission Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: High-risk experience, ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments Description: Local candidates are eligible for travel contracts if they have been separated for at least 3 months. All facilities honor active compact licenses. Experience in high-risk cases is needed. First-time travelers are accepted. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Nurses are expected to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Floating is required to postpartum and antepartum units. Candidates may float to sister facilities that provide mother and baby care. Average daily census is 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month. The facility has 31 rooms and 31 beds available. The schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs. Interdisciplinary support includes interpretation services. Nurses will provide newborn care including assessing and administering medications as necessary. High-risk experience and ability to work in a collaborative team environment are essential. Responsibilities include functioning as a baby nurse during delivery and caring for newborns until they are transferred to postpartum. Candidates must ensure compliance with electronic fetal monitoring and other protocols. Nurses must adhere to AWHONN guidelines while staffing. Travelers may be floated between nearby sister facilities. Travelers refusing to float may result in termination of assignment. The facility has a policy of not accepting certain background checks prior to submission. References from previous employers covering the last year are required.
