Summary

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR THE SALEM OUTAGE

Perform work in the preservation and maintenance of the Nuclear Department buildings, structures and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

Learn functions of positions in Maintenance and Operations departments including performance of basic support activities which do not require task-specific training or qualifications

With qualified nuclear personnel:

• Perform plant tours and inspections

• Perform basic technical writing and document reviews

• Set up temporary safety barriers and protective screening around work areas

• Transport and stage equipment in support of work by qualified personnel

• Assist Nuclear Departments where unskilled labor is required

• Maintain shop and work location in a neat and orderly condition

• Perform less skilled work

• Perform job duties according to company’s safety policy and procedures

• Incumbent may be required to work in contaminated and/or radiological controlled areas

• Ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED.

• Meet the Company’s “General Requirements”, as defined in the Union handbook.

• Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

• Demonstrate the ability to follow simple instructions and carry out routine assignments; an aptitude for mechanical work; keen faculties of observation.

• Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

• Must meet and maintain nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access.

• A valid Real ID or an approved form of alternate documentation (see is required for this position by May 7, 2027.

Unescorted Access

This role will require the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vital area Nuclear Plant Unescorted Access . To obtain Nuclear Plant Unescorted Access, the successful candidate will have to successfully complete: a satisfactory background investigation in addition to the Company’s background investigation, which includes fingerprint and criminal history record check, reference checks, and education and employment verification; physical examination; psychological assessment; and nuclear plant access training requirements; and Fitness for Duty requirements, including both pre-placement and random drug/alcohol testing as part of the Company’s requirement for a workforce that is free from the influence of foreign chemical substances as defined by federal law.

Some positions at PSEG require access to information covered by the Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 (Part 810). If applicable, the successful applicant must prove they are: (1) a citizen or national of the USA; OR (2) a lawful permanent resident of the United States (Non-Conditional Permanent I-551 / Green Card / Permanent Resident Card holder); OR (3) a citizen, national, or permanent resident of a “Generally Authorized” destination on the attached list ( At PSEG/AppendixAtoPart810_ Title10) not also a citizen, national, permanent resident of any country not listed; OR (4) a “Protected Individual” under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)).
