Join Our Work Family Today!The Development Engineering Technician II (DET II) is responsible for assisting Product Development Engineers in prototyping, debugging, testing, and documenting client products and test equipment. Provides guidance to the Development Engineering Technician I team and assists in communicating and executing program requirements delegated from Engineering and Management. This position requires a high level of communication and proficient electromechanical skill set stemming from experience in a development environment.Responsibilities:Exemplifies what it means to be a Caring Associate in interactions with both internal project team and clients.Builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies electrical and mechanical prototype systems with engineering-level documentation and/or verbal instructions applying sound engineering technician practices including maintaining of lab notebook and associated records of work performed. Prototype systems are simple to complex and light to heavy. Generates electrical and mechanical sketches/drawings to clarify design details and functional criteria for work being performed under the guidance of an Engineer.Assembles experimental circuitry, mechanical assemblies, or complete prototype systems according to engineering instructions, technical documentation and knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems and components.Recommends changes to build and test methods to Engineering to improve DFM and serviceability.Sets up standard fixtures, or devises new equipment and circuitry to perform functional, operational, and other tests to evaluate performance and reliability.Proficient with power tool usage and maintenanceProvide hands-on troubleshooting, guidance and some problem-solving support within development engineering as needed. Assist Engineering in determining root cause and subsequent analysis.Collaborate and provide guidance to small groups of Engineering Technicians to accomplish project goals and milestones.Organize and maintain prototyping build and test environments, and engineering workstations, to ensure tools and equipment are available, inventoried, organized, tracked, stored, maintained and replaced/expanded as driven by project needs.Assist Development Engineers with revisions and improvements to build and test procedures.Expectation for this position requires ability to perform moderate to high complexity tasks with minimal oversight.Qualifications:Good verbal and written skills. Good problem-solving skills.High school diploma minimum – trade school experience in technology discipline a plus.Highly skilled with precision tools and metrology equipment5+ years of experience in a similar/related role within a development environment. Experience in a Lead role is a plus.Understands Engineering terminology and ability to execute tasks based on verbal and written direction.Experience in use of MS Office tools, especially Excel and OutlookSome experience with accessing information in MRP/ERP systems or Kinetic a plus.Highly organized and methodicalSalary Range: DET I $19.50-$28 per hour DET II $28-$34 per hour (Salary commensurate with experience) Columbia Tech is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
