Product Designer (United States)

About Taekus

Taekus is a premium financial services company built for the affluent traveler. We offer core banking products (checking accounts, debit and credit cards) alongside a proprietary award travel booking engine that automates the search and booking of award flights with partner airlines using Taekus points.

We've been operating for 6 years as a lean, profitable team of 25. We process $4B+ in yearly transactions, generate $120M+ in annual revenue, and are growing 2-3x yearly. We're ready to scale, and design is at the center of that.

The Role

We're looking for a Product Designer with 5+ years of experience as part of our design team, reporting directly to design leadership. High-ownership, high-impact: you'll shape the visual and interaction experience across our web and mobile products, covering both banking and travel booking flows.

UX matters, but visual quality is non-negotiable here. Our customers expect a premium experience, and the bar for design polish is high.

What You'll Work On

• Designing web and mobile experiences across banking features (accounts, cards, transactions) and travel features (award search, booking, itineraries)
• Driving designs from early concepts to polished, production-ready UI
• Extending and evolving our design system, raising consistency and quality as the product scales
• Translating Taekus brand identity into UI so the premium feel comes through in the product
• Light brand and marketing support: you'll occasionally pitch in on brand assets or visual direction, without it taking over your time
• Collaborating closely with engineering (React/TypeScript) and product to ship high-quality work

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in design, including 3+ years in product design, ideally in fintech, travel, or consumer apps
• Has shipped at least one real product, not just concept work
• A strong portfolio with exceptional visual design sensibility; we want to see polished, beautiful work
• Experience designing for both web and mobile (iOS/Android)
• Proficiency in Figma
• Comfortable in a fast-moving, lean startup with high autonomy
• Bonus: personal interest in travel hacking, points, and miles. Our team travels and we take that seriously

Must

• Recent 2 years working as full-time hand-on designer (not manager, director, contract)
• Have experience B2C (Consumer) Product
• Have experience establishing UI library

Preferred

• Experience at early- to mid-stage startups (Series A–C)
• Data- or experiment-driven decision making (A/B testing experience)
• Prototyping using AI software
• UI motion skill

Doesn't Qualify

• Portfolio is visuals only (Dribbble/Behance style) with no explanation of process
• Only UX research experience

Why Taekus

• Real ownership over the product, not just execution
• Profitable and growing with no runway anxiety
• Remote-first; hubs in Chicago and the Bay Area
• A team of travelers who actually use the product
• Company offsites twice a year
• Competitive compensation + benefits
