Senior Infrastructure Engineer - OpenShift

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We need formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need hands-on production administration of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes, including install and upgrade approaches such as IPI/UPI, Operators, SCC/RBAC, cluster operators, and ingress.
• We need experience running Kubernetes or container platforms in day-2 operations, including upgrades, scaling, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• We need experience with OpenShift Virtualization / KubeVirt, or an equivalent VM-on-Kubernetes approach, and awareness of VM and container co-tenancy design.
• We need strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including system performance, certificates, OS configuration, and cluster node operations.
• We need proven troubleshooting depth in at least two areas: networking, storage, or virtualization.
• We need experience designing and operating highly available platforms, including capacity management, incident handling, root-cause analysis, and remediation tracking.
• We need experience partnering with security and compliance teams on hardening, RBAC, secrets and certificate handling, and vulnerability management aligned with secure-by-default practices.
• We need experience implementing infrastructure automation and configuration-as-code approaches such as Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps, with traceability and auditability.
• We need demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and sensitivity to data handling.
• We need the ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate when uncertain, and ensure outcomes support resiliency, security, and auditability.

• We design OpenShift cluster architectures, on-premises and/or hybrid, to meet availability, scalability, security, and operability goals.
• We build and run OpenShift clusters end to end, including installation, upgrades, patching, scaling, resilience testing, and virtualization capabilities that support VM lifecycles.
• We engineer the platform for both Kubernetes and VM workloads, including capacity planning, performance management, placement strategy, and high availability and disaster recovery considerations.
• We own core Linux platform fundamentals required for stable cluster operations, including RHEL/CoreOS concepts, kernel and sysctl tuning, certificates, and identity integration basics.
• We implement and troubleshoot networking capabilities such as routing and switching fundamentals, DNS, L4/L7 concepts, load balancing, firewalling, segmentation, and packet-path analysis.
• We integrate storage services for container and VM workloads, covering block, file, and object concepts, CSI drivers, performance and failure behavior, and backup and restore approaches.
• We drive reliability practices across the platform lifecycle, including observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• We develop runbooks, standards, and reference architectures, and we lead operational readiness reviews and post-incident follow-up actions.
• We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within our work environment to accelerate analysis of complex infrastructure signals and document mitigation options, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
• We lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted practices across delivery and automation routines to reduce recurring issues, ensuring changes remain validated, traceable, auditable, and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
