Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time, Days
Compensation: $130,000 – $145,000/year
Position Overview
A busy Houston-area hospital is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead a 28-bed Emergency Department with approximately 60 FTEs. The Director will oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality patient care, manage personnel and resources, and drive service excellence. The ideal candidate has recent ED leadership experience, energy, and a proven track record of operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Emergency Department to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care
- Monitor regulatory compliance, hospital policies, and accreditation standards
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development of team members
- Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Foster a positive, evidence-based, and patient-centered culture
- Support recruitment and talent development within the ED
- Address operational issues proactively and implement solutions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration preferred
- Current RN license in practicing state
- 2+ years of recent (within last year) acute care ED Director experience; strong ED Manager candidates with 3–5 years may be considered
- ACLS required
- PALS or ENPC required
- BLS required

- Facility: 302-bed hospital, Level IV trauma
- ED Volume: ~150 patients/day (busy days), ~130 average
- FTEs: ~60
- Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer
