Mid-level (AI) Java DeveloperHybrid in Dallas, TX or Austin, TXYou will work with technical and business partners to design and maintain optimal programming and environment solutions. Job activities will involve researching, developing solutions and supporting the tools and processes to gather detailed user requirements, architecting/developing a solution, and driving strategic planning discussions with technical, business, and client stakeholders.What you are Responsible For:Research and development of (functional and technical specifications documents) production and test environments, architecture/design/develop solutionsDevelop plans for proof of concept and validation of technology/solutionsDevelop and support the tools and processes to gather detailed user requirementsParticipate in strategic planning discussions with technical, business, and client stakeholdersIdentify gaps in processes and services across environmentsReview programming and environment changes and raise awareness for potential impactsEffective and efficient utilization of programming toolsArchitect and develop effective solutions that are in line with the organization's visionActively participate in product design and development sessionsProvide direction to less experienced Programmer/AnalystsIdentify gaps in processes and services across production and test environmentsDevelop architectural diagrams/documents, develop software codes and automated test scriptsWrite efficient, easy to follow technical documentationAct as liaison between technical and non-technical counterpartsUses AI assistance for common dev tasks (code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting) with clear ownership for correctness and quality.Applies GenAI in ways that reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across typical workflows (not limited to writing new code).Demonstrates practical familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code within IDE/CLI-style workflows.Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development (translating low-level design artifacts such as class structures, API contracts, and data models into structured specs that guide AI-assisted implementation), and custom instructions and prompt engineering, with the ability to establish team-level practices for effective AI-assisted development.What you have:Required:3+ years of experience with the following: Java, Spring framework, cloud development, and Web Services (REST, SOAP) supporting high volume transactions in a highly available environmentDemonstrated hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflows in the SDLC—implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, scripting/automation, troubleshooting, and documentation—while applying engineering judgment and validation.Practical familiarity with tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is expected.2+ years Prior experience with ETL jobs or data pipeline and messaging frameworks1+ years of experience with continuous build process using Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git, or similar tools1+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), or AWS or GCP.1+ years' experience working with distributed databases like MongoDB, Aerospike, Yugabyte, PostgreSQL.Demonstrated or hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflowsPractical familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is expected.Preferred:1+ years Prior experience in IT Transformations and system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms, i.e., Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL or MongoDBKnowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile working environmentExperience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA et alia)Experience with .NET framework and programming tools (Visual Studio) and C#Experience in RabbitMQExperience in Financial Services industryExperience in Test Driven DevelopmentAbility to analyze and solve problems creativelyAbility to meet deadlines, goals, and objectivesAbility to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including offshore teams and manage offshore development activitiesAbility to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topicsAbility to work effectively with technical and business expertsWillingness and ability to learn all aspects of test data management and associated toolsAbility to research and document production and test environments along with architecture and design workProficient in developing Visio diagrams, architectural and design documentations, functional and technical specifications, automated test proceEEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
