Exciting Opportunity for a Gastroenterologist

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to become part of a well-established practice alongside a skilled team of healthcare professionals. Our Nurse Practitioners bring over a decade of experience in gastroenterology, and Dr. Jesse Houghton, FACG, has been a valued member of the community since 2012. You will have a busy schedule right from the start, and the call requirements are minimal.

Compensation Package

We offer two compensation options:

• Option 1: A base salary of $588,376* (50th percentile MGMA for recent graduates), with additional compensation based on experience, guaranteed for two years. This can transition to a wRVU production contract once targets are surpassed.
• Option 2: A base salary of $741,960* (75th percentile MGMA), guaranteed for the first year, after which it will switch to a wRVU production contract. There is potential to earn 90% or more of the MGMA salary with bonuses!

*Note: A 5% reduction applies for those who are not yet board certified, with salary adjustments made upon certification.

Contract Benefits

• Vacation: 4 weeks plus holidays and sick days (totaling 29 PTO days). An additional 5 days are available when producing at the 75th percentile of wRVUs.
• CME/Books & Journals: 5 days of PTO and up to $5,000 for continuing education.
• Deferred Compensation: 457b plan allowing deferral of compensation up to the IRS limit of $23,500 annually before taxes, with no matching contributions.
• Retirement/Savings Plan: 403b plan enabling deferral of compensation up to the IRS limit of $23,500 for those under 50, and $31,000 for those over 50. The organization matches contributions dollar for dollar up to 2% of base salary.
• Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 paid to a moving company.
• Malpractice Insurance: Coverage under a claims-made policy, providing $2,000,000 per claim and $6,000,000 aggregate.
• Health Insurance: A small premium is deducted from the physician's paycheck.
• Liquidated Damages: A non-compete clause of 70 miles for 2 years, or liquidated damages equivalent to one year’s salary.
• Bonus Opportunities: Attractive bonus incentives of up to 10% of salary.
• Medical School Loan Repayment: Up to $200,000 in repayment ($25,000 per year for each year of service commitment).
• Sign-On Bonus: 15% of base salary, up to $100,000, paid upon contract signing and forgiven over 2-4 years based on the bonus amount.
• Residency/Fellowship Stipend: Up to $25,000 paid in quarterly installments during the final two years of training.

Practice Information

Location: The practice is situated at a single site, the Gastroenterology Associates in Portsmouth, OH, with the hospital's endoscopy suite just a two-minute walk away.

Office Hours: The clinical office operates Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Staffing and Call Schedule

• Team includes 1 physician, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Service Line Manager, 1 Office Manager, 2 LPNs, and 3 Medical Office Assistants.
• Call Schedule: Light call responsibilities, with the ability to take calls from home and minimal need for in-person attendance for emergencies.

Case Load and Equipment

• Perform 10-15 procedures daily in the Endoscopy Suite and see approximately 30 patients in the clinical office.
• Equipment: Utilize Olympus scopes and video equipment, all monitored for quality. The practice employs a new Provation Medical Documentation System for electronic medical records, which integrates with the Olympus system.
• Facilities include 5 large endoscopy suites (previously OR rooms) and 8 exam rooms in the office.

Additional Information

Our organization has a total of 248 staffed hospital beds and serves a community of approximately 250,000 residents. Established in 1966 as a not-for-profit entity, we employ over 3,000 individuals and have a medical staff of over 300.

We also offer teaching opportunities for medical students and advanced practitioner trainees, with staff eligible for Clinical Adjunct Faculty status at a local medical college.
