Visitor Experience Manager

Company Description The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac is a hands-on learning environment where discovery and curiosity are encouraged through interactive, learn-by-doing exhibits and programs. The museum is designed to foster creativity, imagination, and a passion for lifelong learning in children and their caregivers. It provides a welcoming space where children and adults can play, explore, and learn together. Serving nearly 25,000 visitors annually both onsite and at community events, the museum is an active community resource committed to engagement and education.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac in Fond du Lac, WI. The team member in this role supports daily museum operations, including welcoming visitors, providing excellent guest service, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children and caregivers. Day-to-day responsibilities may include facilitating hands-on activities, assisting with educational programs and special events, managing facility reservations, and maintaining exhibit spaces and materials. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues and community partners, supporting administrative or operational tasks as needed, and representing the museum’s mission in all interactions with visitors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families in educational, recreational, or cultural settings, with a focus on creating inclusive, welcoming experiences.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with visitors of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, support events, and maintain orderly, safe program and exhibit areas.
• Collaborative mindset and reliability, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow established procedures.
• Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and special events as required by museum programming.
• Basic computer skills and comfort learning new systems for ticketing, scheduling, or communication.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in education, child development, museum studies, recreation, or a related field is a plus.
• Prior experience in museums, libraries, community centers, camps, or similar environments is beneficial but not required.
