Built on modern infrastructure, the company delivers intuitive trading tools, real-time data, and low-cost access to financial markets. With a mission to democratize investing, they are expanding quickly across international markets. About the Role The Finance team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s business operations and performance. This Director-level role will work cross-functionally with teams including compliance, operations, and technology. It’s a hands-on, high-impact opportunity suited for an experienced accounting leader with fintech or broker-dealer exposure. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting Prepare regulatory reserve calculations (e.g., customer reserve under 15c3-3, if applicable) Ensure accurate P&L and balance sheet records in coordination with operations and other departments Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness (SOX compliance experience a plus) Coordinate external audits and assist in the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements Collaborate with external advisors for tax and regulatory filings Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities Serve as a liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and regulators Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (mix of public and private preferred) Strong understanding of US GAAP and broker-dealer accounting principles Experience with omnibus or self-clearing broker-dealer structures preferred Familiarity with financial regulatory requirements (e.g., Rule 15c3-3) Proficiency with enterprise accounting systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud, NetSuite) Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Nice to Have Series 3 or Series 27 license Experience with commodities or futures accounting Public company or SOX compliance experience Why Join Strategic role with visibility to senior leadership Join a high-growth fintech firm shaping the future of investing Competitive pay, equity, and benefits Vibrant, collaborative office environment with perks like catered meals and team events Seniority level Seniority level Director Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Accounting/Auditing Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Otterbrook by 2x Get notified about new Director of Accounting jobs in New York, NY .
