CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

Our client is a highly capable precision machining source serving the custom tooling and grinding needs of manufacturers across the Northeast. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and grinders to produce complex aerospace and commercial components to exact specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T callouts to plan setups and machining sequences
Perform precision grinding operations (surface, OD/ID, and cylindrical) on custom tooling and close-tolerance parts
Hold tight tolerances, often within ±0.0005" or tighter, and maintain required surface finishes
Edit G-code and M-code at the machine, set work and tool offsets, and optimize cycle times without sacrificing quality
Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and other precision instruments
Complete quality documentation accurately in accordance with the shop's quality system and customer requirements
Monitor tool wear, select appropriate tooling and workholding, and troubleshoot machining issues as they arise
Perform routine machine maintenance and keep a clean, safe, organized work area
Partner with programmers, quality, and leadership to solve problems and improve processes

WHAT YOU BRING
3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Strong blueprint reading skills and working knowledge of GD&T
Confidence independently setting up and running CNC equipment (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar controls)
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques
Solid shop math, including trigonometry, and a sharp eye for detail
High school diploma or GED; technical or machining certification is a plus
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Schedule is Monday through Friday. 2nd shift with training on 1st shift. $25/hr-$28/hr with a 10% shift differential.
