Director Supply Chain (Automotive Manufacturing) #1508
$175k - $220kKeller Executive Search
Our client is a well-regarded maker of precision-engineered metal components for the automotive market. Operating as part of a larger corporate group, the business produces parts that play a critical functional role in today's vehicle platforms.
Across its US footprint, the company runs several production facilities and is currently on a stable upward trajectory. The position brings considerable executive visibility within a firmly established automotive manufacturing operation.
The Role
Answering to the President, the Director of Supply Chain takes full charge of how the US supply chain is shaped and how it performs from one day to the next, spanning sourcing, procurement, logistics, and inventory control. The remit reaches across every US manufacturing facility and includes direct accountability for the materials function alongside close cooperation with all departments. The central aim is to tighten cost structures, bring operations into alignment, and lower risk so that deliveries arrive on schedule, all while reinforcing how efficiently and competitively the company performs.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep inbound material planning and delivery on track across every facility so that stock holdings stay adequate and production lines never grind to a halt.
- Guide, coach, and bring cohesion to the supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams spread across the US manufacturing operations.
- Put dependable dual-sourcing arrangements in place to soften logistical and supply-side risk.
- Shape and roll out a durable supply chain roadmap geared to the manufacturing setting, upcoming program launches, and the company's expansion.
- Steward supplier relationships, performance scorecards, and capacity planning for the suppliers that matter most.
- Set the direction for raw-material and subcontract-vendor sourcing while holding firmly to automotive quality standards (IATF).
- Make the most of ERP/MRP systems across the plants and fold in advanced tracking or EDI tools that deliver real-time visibility.
- Take ownership of the supply chain CapEx and OpEx budget, push forward ongoing total-cost-down efforts, and trim outbound logistics expenditure.
- Steer the monthly sales and operations planning (S&OP) cycle, matching output capacity to customer demand while keeping working capital in check and holding down premium freight spend.
Requirements
- A leadership background in supply chain within the automotive manufacturing space.
- At least 10 years of increasingly senior experience across supply chain and operations management.
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a comparable discipline. (MBA an advantage.)
- A clear record of bringing production capacity into line with customer demand.
- Direct, working familiarity with IATF (automotive quality standard) requirements.
- Sharp vendor negotiation, risk management, and analytical abilities.
- Strong command of ERP/MRP systems.
- Travel: roughly 10 to 15%.
Benefits
- An annual bonus.
- A base salary in the range of $175,000 to $220,000, set according to experience.
- A 401(k) retirement plan.
- A company car or car allowance.
- Paid vacation along with a full benefits package.
