Construction Defect Associate Attorney

Our client, a respected Colorado litigation firm with a long-standing reputation for defending complex civil matters, is seeking a Construction Defect Associate Attorney to join its Denver office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2+ years of construction defect and/or insurance defense litigation experience who is looking to take on meaningful case responsibility, develop litigation skills, and work alongside experienced trial attorneys on sophisticated matters throughout Colorado.

Key Responsibilities

• Defend construction industry clients in construction defect litigation and related claims.
• Analyze construction contracts, project documentation, expert reports, engineering evaluations, and insurance policies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents, including dispositive motions.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Prepare for and take depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts.
• Attend and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and arbitrations.
• Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, motion practice, and courtroom proceedings.
• Collaborate with experts, consultants, and claims professionals in evaluating liability and damages issues.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel regarding case developments and litigation strategy.
• Track deadlines, manage caseloads efficiently, and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling orders.
• Participate in business development and client relationship activities as opportunities arise.

Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Colorado and be in good standing with the Colorado Bar, with at least 2 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in construction defect defense, insurance defense, commercial litigation, or a related practice area. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, preparing for and taking depositions, and participating in hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings. Familiarity with construction defect claims, risk transfer, indemnity provisions, and insurance coverage issues is preferred. Strong legal research, writing, analytical, organizational, and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to effectively manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.

Our client offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary ranging from $100,000 to $135,000, depending on experience and qualifications, along with eligibility for a performance-based bonus program.
