Join the Elite NICU Team as a Neonatal Nurse!

Job Description:


- Unit Overview:
- Level III NICU with 26 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:1

- Essential Certifications:
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)

- Common Patient Diagnoses:
- Premature infants with sepsis
- Surgical cases such as gastroschisis and evas
- Ventilated patients (rare - nasal CPAP; oscillators also rare)

- Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience required
- Proficiency in titrating the following medications:
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Versed
- Fentanyl
- Must have experience in a Level III NICU

- Unit Operations:
- Neonatologists and Respiratory Therapists available 24/7
- Charge Nurse oversees both NICU and Pediatrics without patient assignment
- No nurse aides assigned to the unit

- Equipment Available:
- Oscillators
- Nasal CPAP
- Rare ventilators
- Giraffe incubators and radiant warmers

- Monitoring & Support:
- Telemetry on unit with RN monitoring
- Open bay area with patient monitors

- Scheduling Details:
- 12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 to 7:30 AM
- Self-scheduling based on seniority
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday requirement

- Floating Expectations:
- First to float to the Nursery and Pediatrics (sister unit with 12 low-acuity beds)

- Dress Code:
- Navy scrubs

- Orientation & Training:
- 3 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
- 6 hours in the nursery and 6 hours in pediatrics

- Cancellation Policy:
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts for 13-week assignments, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments

- Charting System:
- Cerner

- Contract Details:
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Contract duration: 91 weeks
