This role focuses on safely operating and monitoring mixing and reaction processes in a manufacturing chemical plant. The Chemical Operator runs reactors, mixers, and related equipment to produce chemical products according to production schedules, quality specifications, and safety regulations. The position involves executing batch processes, closely monitoring reaction conditions, and accurately documenting all production activities.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, weigh, and charge raw materials into tanks, mixers, and reactors according to batch sheets and standard operating procedures.
• Operate mixing equipment, agitation systems, and blending processes to achieve required product specifications.
• Follow precise batching sequences, timing, and proportions to ensure consistent product quality.
• Monitor and control chemical reactions, including temperature, pressure, and flow rates, using control systems and instrumentation.
• Start, adjust, and shut down reactors and associated systems safely in line with plant procedures.
• Make process adjustments based on batch data, alarms, or quality feedback to maintain product standards.
• Record production data such as batch quantities, temperatures, times, and any deviations in logs or electronic systems.
• Conduct in-process sampling and coordinate with quality personnel to verify product quality.
• Maintain accurate and complete batch records in compliance with plant and regulatory requirements.
• Operate pumps, valves, reactors, tanks, and auxiliary equipment to support continuous production.
• Identify and troubleshoot process or equipment issues and escalate to maintenance or supervision when needed.
• Perform routine cleaning, equipment changeovers, and minor maintenance to keep systems in good working order.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and plant regulations when handling chemicals and operating equipment.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere to hazardous material handling procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and respond appropriately to spills or incidents.
• Transfer finished products to storage or packaging areas as directed.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished goods; operate a forklift if required.
• Support inventory tracking, waste handling, and general plant operations as part of the production team.

Essential Skills

• 13+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or mixing operations.
• Experience operating reactors, mixers, or batch processing systems.
• Basic understanding of chemical processes, reactions, and safety protocols.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures exactly.
• Ability to read and interpret batch sheets, safety data sheets, and technical documentation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a production environment.
• Problem-solving mindset suited to a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Hands-on experience with chemical mixing, compounding, blending, batch making, and batch mixing.
• Experience with mixing and blending operations and reaction operations.
• Ability to operate pumps and related process equipment.
• Familiarity with titration and pH probes.
• Prior batch reaction experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in chemical operation and chemical manufacturing environments.
• Comfort working with various chemicals and following detailed production instructions.
• Ability to support both production and material handling activities, including loading and unloading materials.
• Capability to perform routine equipment cleaning, changeovers, and minor maintenance.
• Willingness to work in a non-climate-controlled industrial setting and follow all site-specific procedures.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled industrial facility that operates as a chemical manufacturing plant. The Chemical Operator works around reactors, mixers, pumps, tanks, valves, and related process equipment, frequently handling raw materials and finished products. The environment involves exposure to typical industrial conditions such as varying temperatures, noise, and chemical processing activities. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, and employees follow strict safety and hazardous material handling procedures throughout their shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dalton, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
