It is here where, in any one of our 63 labs, we test, rate, and review 10,000+ products and services.As a Mechanic on the team, you will report to the Director of Facilities to focus on routine maintenance, responding to occasional off-hour emergency calls and ensuring safety regulations are met and all equipment is in good working order.This is an on-site position located in Yonkers, New York. This position is not eligible for sponsorship or relocation assistance.How You'll Make An ImpactOur dedicated facility team is instrumental in maintaining and repairing our organization's headquarters so our testing and research experts can provide consumers with the information they need to make informed decisions. In this position, you will be responsible for:Performing maintenance tasksRepairing equipment, machinery, and buildingResponding to "on demand" and timely staff requests, event set-ups / emergency calls Complying with safety regulations, and assisting with facility inspections.Handling inventory managementOverseeing the emergency evacuations of staff during fire or safety eventsRepairing and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipmentUpkeep of grounds & equipmentAbout YouYou'll Be Highly Rated If:You have the degree. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.You have the experience . A minimum of 5-years experience in maintenance or a similar role.You are a subject matter expert. You have knowledge of buildings, machinery, and equipment.You are a jack-of-all-trades . You have basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical skills.You are self-motivated and a problem solver.You value teamwork and collaboration.You'll Be One of Our Top Picks If:You are certified in a trade or equivalent field.You have experience working in a larger facility or multiple facilities.Physical requirements include those associated with trade work including working in an office environment, utilization of safe work practices, use of material handling equipment, ladders, lifts and tools & equipment typical for working on systems, ability to lift or move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions typical to the region and the ability to operate large equipment including that used for grounds upkeep and snow removal.FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACEAt Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation.The target salary range for this position is $69,074.30 - $80K. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.Consumer Reports has three locations: Yonkers, NY, Washington, DC and Colchester, CT.
