Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, 2 years of Trauma Level II & Pediatric Emergency Department experience, 1 year travel experience preferred License: Client Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS Certification required Must-Have: Excellent organizational skills Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. Role models Relationship Centered Care through facilitation of key patient care actions. Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional guidelines. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures. Document nursing practices accurately and in compliance with care standards. Facilitates patient throughput on shift basis. Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and their families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice. Projects a professional image to colleagues and communicates effectively. Incorporates ethical principles into decision making for patients and families. Encourages a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and life-long learning for self and others. Participates in shared decision making through nursing department committees and unit initiatives.
