Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract opportunity in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong telemetry skills and experience caring for orthopedic, trauma, and medical-surgical patients.
Requirements

Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele RN experience required
First-time travelers accepted
Active RN license required
Pending licenses not accepted
BLS certification required
Epic experience preferred
Must be competent in:
- Phlebotomy
- Peripheral IV insertion

Clinical Skills Required

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
IV insulin protocols
Feeding tube care and management
Blood product administration
Peripheral line care and management
Heparin protocols
Cardiac drips (non-titrating)
PCA management
Orthopedic trauma care
Total joint replacement care
Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
CPAP/BiPAP management
High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Tracheostomy care
Wound care and wound vac management

Common Patient Diagnoses

Osteoarthritis
Fractures and orthopedic injuries
Post-surgical orthopedic patients
Medical-surgical and telemetry patients requiring cardiac monitoring

Patient Ratios

Days/Evenings: Typically 5:1
Nights: Typically 6-7:1

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications, blood products, and specialty therapies according to protocols.
Perform IV starts and blood draws as required.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system.
