Detention Supervisor with Security Clearance

AIP is looking for a Detention Supervisor to work in Miami, FL. Responsibilities Provide supervision, guidance, and on‑the‑job training to improve Detention Officer skills, reinforcing the critical nature of the Detention Officer’s responsibilities. Assure consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, taking immediate action to correct problems and respond when called upon. Maintain full staffing by filling open posts with reserve or standby personnel and managing call‑offs due to illness or other reasons. Brief Detention Officers during muster and post checks regarding changes in Post Orders or any unusual or emergency situations. Conduct on‑the‑job training to correct deficiencies or strengthen Detention Officer knowledge. Report any emergency situation to the COTR and Akima Infrastructure Protection. Conduct administrative investigations of policy violations, including personal injury and traffic accidents. Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports. Review sign‑in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping. Manage break schedules and ensure all Detention Officers receive breaks and relief. Provide oversight and management and direct reporting of detainee counts. Assist detention officers with disturbances or lack of cooperation from a detainee. Inspect every area of the facility where detainees are present at least once per shift. Assume duties of Captain in the Captain’s absence. Provide effective leadership and supervision of all subordinate personnel. Schedule adequate staffing for all assigned posts and assure minimum manning standards are maintained. Ensure duties are accomplished as directed in the contract; perform other duties as assigned. Furnish a manifest of all detainees under supervisory jurisdiction and ensure safe and effective control 24 hours a day. Provide other written and oral reports as required or needed. Inspire and motivate employees to perform duties to ensure contract compliance. Ensure Detention Officers are trained on expectations and requirements. Provide timely and ongoing feedback on employee job performance. Motivate and provide recognition to exemplary employees. Discipline detention officers who are negligent or disregard SOPs, policies, standards, regulations, or contractual requirements. Participate in interviewing candidates for detention officer positions. Enforce ACA and ICE National Detention Standards, policies, procedures and orders related to custody, care and treatment of detainees. Conduct daily quality assurance inspections of areas of responsibility; document findings on approved forms and checklists by shift end. Correct discrepancies on the spot as appropriate. Be responsible for effective and efficient control, operation, and security of the detention facility. Qualifications Minimum one year experience as a detention officer and two years successful experience in field supervision (civilian law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard service, or security service supervisory position). Two‑year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work‑related experience, training, or college credits at an equivalent level. U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with at least five years residency in the United States. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record). Obtain and maintain DHS/ICE government clearance. Pass all pre‑employment and random drug tests. Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements. At least 21 years of age. Valid state driver’s license. Valid armed security G license from the state of Florida. Ability to obtain a state security guard D license from Florida. Maintain current or physical residency in the continental United States. Trustworthy. Knowledge of day‑to‑day operation of a detention services center. Knowledge and skills in ensuring maximum safety and security to protect detainees, staff, and facility from fire, security breaches, while ensuring operation within established rules. Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public. Capability of following and understanding written and verbal orders, policies, and regulations. Literate in interpreting printed rules, regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions, and materials; able to compose written and oral reports. Good judgment, courage, alertness, even temperament, and satisfactory performance through responsibilities. Ability to maintain poise and self‑control during situations involving mental stress (fires, explosions, disturbances, building evacuations). Professional personal appearance and calm demeanor. Maintain confidentiality. High degree of integrity, accountability and adherence to ACA and DHS ICE standards. Ability to work with a diverse population of people, including different cultures, values, and lifestyles, with a cross‑cultural perspective. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of and familiarity with ACA and DHS ICE National Detention Standards and regulations for operation of detention and correctional facilities.
