Principal Software Engineer - HPC Platforms

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal software engineering training or certification, with at least 10 years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced expertise in software application development and technical processes, including one or more disciplines such as large language models or high-performance computing
• At least 8 years of high-performance computing software experience
• At least 5 years of experience with one or more types of accelerators
• At least 3 years of deep learning experience, particularly with large language models
• Strong Python skills and proficiency in at least one systems language, C or C++, plus experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch
• Experience designing and leading the adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams, including standards for human review, auditability, change traceability, and secure handling of sensitive data
• Understanding of responsible AI use and controls in engineering workflows, including security, resilience, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance; ability to influence senior technical leaders on safe scaling and reuse
• Preferred: PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
• Preferred: Practical cloud-native experience
• Preferred: Hands-on CUDA experience for GPU programming and performance optimization
• Experience in large organizations or regulated industries is an advantage
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a dynamic team environment
• Employment is contingent on our review of criminal conviction history, including pretrial diversions or program entries, as required under Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act

• Design and build complex, scalable software frameworks using appropriate architectural patterns
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review, debug, and improve code from other engineers
• Lead technical design reviews and advise cross-functional partners on solutions in your area of expertise
• Create reusable performance patterns and benchmarking methods to optimize model training and inference across compute architectures
• Establish and use telemetry and measurable performance indicators to inform hardware and software decisions
• Mentor and support our developer community in high-performance computing practices related to AI and machine learning
• Architect and govern agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows using enterprise-authorized tools, improving delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale
• Establish safeguards for validation, security, resilience, and reuse across teams, including for AI-supported code review, test generation and maintenance, release readiness, and incident analysis
• Apply software development lifecycle toolchain knowledge, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product partners, and help teams make informed tradeoffs across latency, throughput, and efficiency using telemetry and operational outcomes
