Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the perioperative team, assisting during intraoperative procedures under RN supervision. Responsibilities include applying aseptic principles to maintain a sterile environment, demonstrating technical skills, and providing age-specific obstetrical care. Key duties involve organizing supplies and equipment, maintaining a safe environment, charging for equipment use, and participating in room turnover and setup. They perform sterilization, disinfection, and equipment maintenance, assist with patient positioning and obtaining supplies, and support sterilization of surgical instrumentation. Additional tasks include scrubbing during surgeries, assisting with equipment repair, and training students such as medical students and residents. Qualifications include a Surgical Technology certificate or associate degree, BLS certification, and surgical technologist experience. Skills required encompass knowledge of asepsis, technical competence, judgment, and adherence to safety and legal policies.
